About Kangaroo Island Toboggan Rental

Book Direct with the Owner at Kangaroo Island Toboggan Rental with Restaurant Guide in North Cape, for all your Attraction and travel needs.

After making your own way to Little Sahara, head to the outfitter’s office where the staff has your toboggan ready.

When you arrive at the sand dunes, start on the more gentle slopes and work up to the steeper slopes. You have a lot of options, as the dunes range in size from small hills to impressive ones, with the tallest standing approximately 230 feet (70 meters) high.

The Little Sahara extends almost 1 square mile (2 sq km) on a private property in Vivonne Bay. The dunes formed naturally as part of a coastal dunes system on southern Kangaroo Island. It's worth a climb to the top of the tall dunes to get great photo opportunities.

As you gain confidence cruising down the dunes, try some turns and tricks or double up on the toboggan with a friend. You might tumble off the board into the warm sand, but little spills are part of the fun.

When your 2-hour rental ends, simply return your toboggan to the office, then continue to your next destination.

Needs signage, flags, and directional markers to identify and direct you back to office otherwise you can easily become disoriented and lost. NO phone reception and NO staff on dunes to assist if in emergency or injured. NO water supply, NO first aid, NO shelter, and more importantly NO CHECK OUT to ensure we returned safely. As a sole grandparent with 10 & 12 years olds, this experience left me feeling totally isolated as we could not see another person in view and I felt extremely vulnerable. I would definitely NOT recommend this to others of any age as there were no safety measures in place with only a 4 minute video outlining how to use the toboggan. Really disgusting given that I explained this was our first experience and wanted some guidance and the Video was all that was offered after we paid.

A bit pricey ($37 for 2 hours using a sand board), but pretty fun! Be ready to do some serious workout going up and down those dunes!!!

Despite the sandy wind gusts, the experience was so much fun for our family of 4. The adventure guide was clear with her instructions on taboggan usage. The sand dunes were beautiful and there were plenty of dunes to explore without any crowding. The only thing I would suggest is to bring sunglasses and a face cover (even though you'll get sandy anyway) and to prepare for a bit of fitness- ie walking to (and up) the dunes!

Did the toboggan with my family here. The sand dunes are high and a lot of hard work to go up with toboggan. Coming down is fun and creates a lot of laugh as one gets hang of doing it right. So much fun to do this activity with the family. Tip— Hire only 2 toboggan and family of 4 can share. An awesome fun place.
